Classification and Main Materials of Automotive Radiators

According to the coolant flow direction:
Vertical-flow type (upper and lower water chambers): Suitable for vehicle models such as trucks with ample cabin height;
Cross-flow type (with water chambers on both sides): Low height, suitable for sedans with low hood designs.
By core structure: tubular, tubular-belt type;
Material: In earlier times, it was primarily copper + brass (which offer good thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance but are heavy and costly); nowadays, it’s almost entirely aluminum (lightweight, highly efficient at heat dissipation, and low-cost).
Cooling method: Water cooling (mainstream), air cooling (a few older or smaller engines).
